I am sorry to announce that due to personal circumstances the MK Cashflow 101 Club will not be running this month or for the foreseeable future.  I realise that this will be a disappointment to many of you and I would like to thank those of you who have supported the club over the last year.

Please do keep in touch and we will of course let you know if the club re-opens.

Despite what you may gather from some of the ‘get rich quick’ merchants, making a profit this way is not a foregone conclusion, and he will touch on some of the common mistakes people make. In order to appeal to all pocket sizes, Peter will present a brief run-down on the most popular ways to start with no (or at least very little) capital and discuss their pros and cons.  There will be a question and answer session after the talk.

All who attend this meeting will receive a complimentary CD containing a typical $27 internet ‘product’ which hopefully will be useful to anyone wanting to take up this sort of activity.  We do however need to know if you will be coming so that we know how many CD’s to duplicate.  (NB. One CD per pre-booked attendee.)

His profession by day?  You’ve guessed it – an accountant!  Who wouldn’t want somebody that creative on thier power team?

Next meeting is 4th March when we are hoping to have an expert speaker coming.  We will keep you posted.

Getting back to the business of business in 2010, it seems a long time since our last meeting (well it was last year!).  We look forward to catching up with everyone at the next meeting at 7pm on 4th February.

Hello All – it’s that time of the month again!  If you want a break from the frantic Christmas shopping and Xmas card writing then what better than an evening of fun and good company with the MK Cashflow 101 club.  Oh, and we might even learn something whilst we play

Lindsay’s talk expanded on his 10 key steps on the “stairway to success”:-

1) Every day and every hour counts.  Don’t waste time having a “bad day”.  If your mood has been affected in a negative way then take a break and do something different to lift the mood and restore your positivity.

2) Appreciate and apply the 80/20 rule.  Allow yourself to feel successful if you achieve that top 20% of your to do list.

3) Realise when you are “on form” and maximise the time to move mountains!  For those of you who believe in eating your frogs every day perhaps consider leaving the less urgent ones until this day – you will hardly even notice the croaking

4) Understand that EVERYONE you meet can help you to succeed.  Collect business cards and record the information ( NB. filing them in a drawer with thousands of others does not count.)

5) Identify your best 2 hours each day and do your most vital tasks then.  Lindsay is apparently at his best between 7 and 9am.  I got an email from him at 6.23am even though he only left MK for home at 9.15pm last night!

6) Always look for the win/win solution.

7) Work on your friendships (and he doesn’t just mean you work relationships).  Friends are an asset to be cherished.

Work hard every day to be positive and see the positive side of what life throws at you.

9) Learn to play to your strengths and work with others to support your weaknesses.  eg. If you are great at selling but not great with figures then employ a good accountant to that bit and concentrate on the sales yourself.

10) Enjoy the journey!

We are planning more Meet the Expert sessions for the New Year so keep an eye out for notices. In the meantime we will revert to our usual Cashflow game night on 3rd December.  Usual time, usual place.  See you there.

Joking aside I have never seen the downsizing square landed on so often – the only good thing was that we usually had company whilst we were sitting out our lost turns.

Last night was also the first time that I had landed on the Tax Audit square on the outer track. OUCH!!!

With the dice and cards falling against us so frequently it took all our ingenuity to escape the rat race and the importance of reducing our expenses to manageable levels was evident.  It was primarily this strategy that eventually won the game.  I think that there is a lesson in this which is perhaps particularly apt as we all continue to struggle through the credit crunch.  Financial independence is not about having good or bad luck, it’s about how you deal with the cards you are dealt and how you adapt your strategy to suit the circumstances.

The next meeting is Meet the Expert on 17th November and the next game night is on our usual Thursday 3rd December. (who knows there might even be mince pies on offer!)
